Prophet Muhammad’s (PBUH) fondness for cats has conveyed in his hadith:” Affection for cats is part of faith”. So loving a cat is a sign that someone is a believer. A companion of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) was given the name Abu Hurairah, which means ” father of cats”. He always had a cat with him. In Islam, if cat urine stains one’s clothes, it is not regarded as dirty while a dog’s salvia is considered dirty. Prophet said,” Have mercy on the creatures of Allah so that Allah may have mercy on you”. It is now the motto of Muslims. There is a mosque in Syria called Masjid al-Qitat. “Qatar” means “cats” in Arabic. There is also a place for cats in oriental literature. Stories, jokes, and sagas feature cats as well.
